While some say "Who cares?" and remain happy with that solution, I
know a fair number of people who believe something a little different.
Some argue that an individual's writing is a good measure of their
intelligence. Others I have met say that one's writing provides an
answer to how much respect you have for someone: "You're not worth the
time to produce clear discourse."
If you post to a public list, people have only your writing from which
to form an opinion. If you post frequently, and write poorly, people
may not even bother to read what you say.
It's your choice, and it's your reputation.
