On January 21 the Government Information Working Group of the Information
Infrastructure Task Force (IITF) will be holding a second running of its
"Electronic Media" conference. This running is to be an all-day affair,
no admission charge, at the Department of Commerce (14th and Pennsylvania
Avenue, NW, Washington DC). As with the first, this running of the
conference is intended to provide predominately Federal employees (public
affairs officers, program managers and IRM workers) with exposure to new
means to disseminate government information electronically. The Internet
figures prominently in the conference agenda.
We are seeking volunteers to staff one of the conference breakout
rooms, on the topic of how to obtain connectivity to the Internet.
Anyone who volunteers would be expected to be available from roughly
9am to 4pm (multiple volunteers would mean more flexibility to trade
off and spell each other), and to provide basic tutorial discussion on
the steps organizations need to take to gain access to the Internet.
(At the first conference we ran this segment as an hour or so
tutorial managed by a representative of SURANET.)
