Dan ...yes I *KNOW* that Susan Eldred has been gone since I think early
summer. Note the dates on the salary figures are Oct 1 1991 through
Sept 30 1992. these are the most recent available.
I feel more comfortable avoiding the temptation of saying a few million
here is small compared to other waste or to the whole internet pie. Yes
thats true, but it seems to me that a serious public interest point of
view demands asking *why* in times of stretched budgets should the NSF
appear ready to continue to throw good money after bad? A few million
here and a few million there and first thing you know you could have
quite a few additional public libraries and k-12 schools connected to
the network. Even a few hundred thousand here and a few hundred
thousand there could do some nice things.
