Gordon, don't cc: my mail box it gets full fast. You wanted the full details
on my dealings with ANS & the Diamond Mine thing. You also asked about the
deal Digex had/has/ with ANS. I will do my best to tell you what I know to
be true. Again, put the questions to me one by one and I will get back to you
as soon as I can. There were NO non-disclos. forms signed & I doubt that Digex
sign any as well. I can't say for sure but, I would guess you got the response
you did due to a CYA on their part.
On the CIX thing, there is nothing secret about it. It was one of my main
concerns as well as that of Doug Humphery at Digital Express. At the time
Doug knew alot more about the CIX than I did. He was very concerned that
when our sites went live we have the complete and full CIX connectivity. It
goes without saying - at No extra charge of $10,000. ANS was not lying, when
we started, the connectivity was there. And we never had to pay any CIX fee.
ANS can do alot with the routing to make this happen but, the real way it
happens is when the top brass at ANS tell routing people like John Hedderman
to make it so. With ANS as a CIX member that does not give Digital Express
CIX right's, maybe Bill Washburn could explain why they still have this
type of access. DIGEX.NET is a class beB network address. The Nic info. clearly
states what they wanted the Class B for. I am curious as to the CIX being so
quiet on this matter. I know there are people holding off joining the CIX
because they see no reason to just give away the $10,000. And I think the CIX
needs to get stronger in its enforcement of policy ie: Digex and others who
are NOT CIX member should be blocked. If they pay the $10k fee, then no
problem. But, until that time, its only fair to the other members to follow
the CIX own rules.
