My take on this is that it's an instance of a very old paradigm (ad-speak)
which has a definitive motto: don't believe everything you read.
My understanding is that V.fast means 28.8 kbps bit rate. To get 230.4
kbps you would need an 8x compression ratio! Unless your net traffic
consists of only 'R' characters or something, I don't think that's
reasonable.
Also be aware that the V.fast spec hasn't been blessed yet ... these
early V.fast modems may not be compatible with V.fast modems next year
(unless the manufacturer guarantees an upgrade).
