I'm sending this from one of the four internet terminals at the
Radiologic Society of North America conference in Chicago. With
attendance at 40K, I've heard that it is the biggest conference of any
kind, at least in this country. Now, at noon, is a busy time for message
checking, and should be busy for checking email, etc, since nothing
formal is going on. Three of the four terminals are occupied. Only once
have I been unable to get to a terminal at will
HOWEVER the first class to sell out here (I heard) was "Navigating the
INternet" and many displays on networking and teleradiology are
presented here. Teleradiology involves transforming high resolution
images into electronic bits, (HUGE bandwidth - the technology is
currently limited by non-fiberoptic telephone lines).
My question is - How many terminals do you all think will be needed at
next yeaer's meeting, taking into account growth of the net use by
private and academic physicians and by the pending boom in
teleradiology. I'm betting forty.
I know I have provided no data - I have none and would also be interested
in any data you all have re: this exercise.
