The needn't get the whole com-priv list to find you. There are
archives of the messages (I read them when I first found the group, to
get a feel for what was being discussed) available by gopher and ftp.
I guess they could browse through those and post messages to likely
customers.
I can't recall who, but I also received a 'junk mail' message about a
week ago. I deleted it immediately, so I can't really recall who it
was from. I suppose if it got overwhelming I might complain, but
compared to all the catalogs and other dead trees that come in my
regular mail box, I have to say I am *glad* when someone wastes and
electron and not a forest on me.
