If the patent is a clear and obvious act of patenting of
existing technology, then have you considered asking a grand
jury either in DC or where Compton's is located to indict them
for fraud? I think if someone knowingly files a fraudulent
patent application, that is fraud.
For the lawyers in the audience, I do not claim that the
patent is fraudulent nor do I claim it to be valid nor invalid;
I am simply stating an opinion of what could be done if there
is interest in doing so. I make no claim as to what the
people at Comptons or the company have or have not done.

Before the MTA, the bus service was operated by MTA.
Before there was an RTD, the bus service in Los Angeles was
operated by the <SURPRISE> MTA, which had to be bailed out by
the state when it went bankrupt.
Culver City, Torrance, and Santa Monica, three lines that I have
ridden buses on, ARE operated by their cities. Long Beach,
however, is operated by an independent company (Long Beach
Public Transportation Company) which, while it is subsidized
by the city, is separate and thus prevents the city from having
to be liable for injuries on buses.
Oh wait. I am basing my information on how it was 4 years ago
when I was there; the city may have taken the system over, but
since it was run by this private company for the 15+ years that
I was living in Long Beach, I can't see why they would.
There is an interesting story about the line from Santa Monica
to Long Beach. There are only two ways to get there, the long
way and the short way. The long way is to take the Long Beach
bus to an RTD Bus using what is now the Blue Line, go 20 miles
into downtown LA and then take another RTD bus all the way
across Los Angeles into Santa Monica.
The short way is to take a Long Beach Bus to the bus pickup
area, catch the RTD bus to LA International Airport (LAX)
bus terminal at 98th & Vicksburg, then catch the Santa Monica
Municipal line to the city. (Then if I wanted to go on to,
say, Pepperdine University, I'd catch an RTD bus in Santa
Monica that went out there.)
The interesting thing is that this route from Long Beach to
Santa Monica really didn't originate from RTD. It was
originally a route operated by Greyhound, who sold it to RTD.
RTD broke the route from Santa Monica to LAX off and sold
or traded it to Santa Monica in exchange for allowing RTD to
run buses into and through the city.
This information was passed onto me by several bus drivers and
is unofficial.
