As a mere mostly follower of these discussions, I think it's OK to defend 
one's own honor in the forum in which it is challenged.

Other equally valid interpretations of MStrange's reaction:

He doesnt read the lists he posts to

He reads but doesnt care about the opinions of noncustomers, or about 
whether or not he offends them when he takes up their email storage space 
with unsolicited ads. 

He was perfectly satisfied just getting all that attention, because it 
was all free advertising
