That was my point, of course.  The AUP explicitly *allows* R&E
connectivity with commercial sites, so those sites can offer support
for R&E.  About the only things not allowed under the AUP are R&E sites
themselves engaging in commercial activity, advertisements, and
commercial sites talking to each other (for non R&E purposes) through
an R&E site.  (The latter is probably pretty rare anyway except perhaps
for BITNET email gateways.)

It seems every time the AUP comes up, sombody has to point out that
it's not about who can connect to whom but about what the connectivity
can be used for.
