Now the questions are:
(1) how many who ORIGINALLY applied were denied?
[An obscure fact is that when you
apply you normally can get a "provisional exemption" fairly quickly,
but final approval comes "later".]
(2) how many for the previous 2 years?
(3) how many for the next two years?
Now #3 is even more interesting because starting 1jan90 accountability
to the IRS dramatically changed, much more detail was required. Maybe
there will be a "shakeout".

A little known fact.
The IRS has revoked the not-for-profit status of about 4 corporations
in the last 2 years. At least that is what the New York Times said in
a recent article on the IRS and the auditing of not-for-ptofits.
