Hi April -- Your response is even more ominous.

It has always been true in the past, that I could register a name for
future possible connection to the internet. I have done it several
times, and I have helped others to do the same.)
You seem to be saying that I can not do this any longer, and that I
must connect (and tell you where my name server is located) if I get a
DNS Name, or forego getting a DNS name. Or are you just saying that I
have to tell you where my name server is going to be if and when I
connect.
Of course, since I can move my nameserver after I cannect, I can also
move it before I cannect, so I do not see how it helps anyone to force
unconnected domains to tell you all about an unused name server, which
will no doubt move before it is ever used.
Is this what you are saying? If so, I must strongly object to this
"new" rule.
Where in the rules (publised wherever) does it say that I must be
connected to register a DNS name?
I belive the issue is that if I connect, then I must have a domain
name server in operation as required by the rules, to resolve names
for may domain. Else I must remain unconnected.
But what about when I am not connected, and my DNS name does not need
to be (and should not be) resolved in any case because my domain is as
yet not reachable.
The effect that I require is the ability to reserve a name for when I
might connect.
This is a very critical requiremnt for anyone planning to connect at
any time in the future. ~Without this service, we are going to be in
a really bad way in the internet.
Best...\Stef
