This is happening. Besides The World (telnet world.std.com from where
policy permits) you can get to Compuserve via the internet (the
information service, GO HELP and all that) thru I believe what is a
merit gateway (you telnet to some address and then you're dropped into
an interactive program which offers among other choices compuserve.)
In fact, hmm...
