Quick question:
I have a friend who's relatively close to the top of the Western Pennsylvania
Bell (Bell of Pennsylvania / Bell Atlantic) hierarchy in terms of ISDN
decisions. Anyone have any questions / comments that I can forward to him?
According to him, Bell of Pennsylvania finds itself with a chicken and the egg
problem: lots of technological possibilities but no products or services to
market to users yet. He *does* know that the technology if available will
create the market itself but...
Right now he says that they are marketing it to a few businesses only (where
ISDN-equipment compatible switches are installed) and were very disinterested
in residential ISDN services. He said maybe in 5 years or so. I groaned. He
also said that they are installing brand new switches right now that do *not*
have ISDN compatibility (which included the one that feeds my house of course).
I groaned louder.
