Bill:
I'm reminded of something Bill Joy said in 1983 along the lines of
"we've got to stop standardizing things we don't understand." Also,
there is some past history of working groups actually making matters
worse when there's still too much research to be done. For these sorts
of reasons, I suspect the creation of an Industry Group or Forum
on Very Fast Networks would be premature, at least if you're talking
much faster than 155 Mbps. 155Mbps looks very near and ATM Forum
seems to be doing quite well in making it a reality.
So, having stated my starting position, let me ask you -- what
fruitful things do you think such a Group or Forum could do?
