According to Government Computer News, "the Energy Department has invited bids
to provide a high-speed network that will operate at 622 megabits/sec using the
emerging cell relay technology. The network initially will connect researchers
at 12 DOE sites, although some NASA facilities are expected to be added to the
network." Proposals are due April 15.
It looks like we might get a preview of who will likely respond to NSF later
this year, and what they can offer.
