Hi Jack,
I read your * traffic based* accounting remarks. Imposing parochial pricing structures that
existing Telco architecture dictates defies the functionality which the Net promises to
deliver. Burdening the Net with regulatory overhead (i.e. intra/inter tariffs, etc...) for the
express purpose of creating profit centers preys upon users ignorance of the Net
architecture and would raise cost of service.
It is correct to perceive price .vs. useage. That is the only pricing model with which we are
familiar. The new global marketplace and boundry crossing technologies like the net will
require an new pricing model. That new model will by definition be judged from price .vs.
useage comparisions until experience yields a more accurate method.
