That's precisely one of the issues that we decided was key in the MFS
MDS (LAN-speed MAN) service. We hope to have that available sometime in
the first half of this year.

We also noted that the jump from 56kbs to 1.544Mbs to ~45Mbs, both in
terms of price and applicability to the task at hand is hardly what the
average user needs. If I'm running Ethernet on campus, I need more than
T1 but less (*MUCH* less) than T3.  Hence, the motivation to provide 10Mbs 
connections and "scalable" (1 < n < 100 Mbs, where n may be varied) connections.

In my experience, that jumbo step up from T1 to anything else is the
biggest single limiting factor in what people do with high-speed
internetworking in the large.
