As a non techno person slip and ppp are vital to me.
I go multiplex if that gives me a connection to
the information I need. Just this week I had to
remember my store and carry stuff (gosh I have
friends that are not on the Internet).
What is happening to the people that just
recieved their pink slip? Is academia the
only safe place? Because a person might be
losing their connection because of economic
"down sizing" shouldn't access be granted?
Look at the development of Unix (the code
was given free without support). People
complete projects because they have a
passion to. Each new tool opens up new
break throughs. We are not talking about
people being able to CHAT, the future is
in *our* hands.
