We can talk all day about the merits of NREN as the national data highway,
but let's not get bogged down in the applicability of any fine points
of the analogy.  *In general* the concept is accurate, and has the added
advantage of being understandable by your favorite congresscritter.  The
details of farmers subsidies and double-bottomed truckers on freeways
only muddies the issue.
