Oh, I guess that this could go under the telecom groups but, the company
is in the data business in a big way. MCI just got a cool $50 mil of our
tax dollars and its worth talking about.
What sort of ATM-Routing-Re-router is Burt Roberts going to install on this
vBNS system ? Will MCI contract network operations back to ANS leaving them
fully intact ? Does MCI even have ATM - Packet ability at this time ? How
long before we see an Ultra-High Speed and operational vBNS at OC12 or higher?
What 59 months and an extension, plus back door, private re-dealing dealing ?
MCI knows how to advertise - AT&T you could learn something from them.
Meanwhile, slowly and quietly MCI among others is buying up local sites
from the RBOC's in rural areas. It seems that companies like U.S. West,
and others would rather sell Real Estate and NOT deal with the public. Its
all the giant computer in the sky concept. Oh give me a home, where the dial
tone can roam....
Its just like the time we built the railroads in this country. Forget what
big business and government tells us. The trick is to understand the real
reasons for theses actions & then do an end run around them to a tidy
financial profit.
