We don't use rdist here, I always suspected it (it's had problems like
this since the day it was released), so one of the things on our
internal "setting up a new system" checklist is to de-setuid or remove
rdist entirely.

But your point about the info not being propagated in a timely way
(and mine for that matter) is the real issue here and seems to point
towards a need for something else organizationally.
