Ah yes, the infamous T1 safetynet.

What a joke. Its actually WORSE to have a T1 backup to a T3 than none at
all becaus the network becomes totally unusable because a T1 is totally unable
to handle the load. The routers flap, crash, etc.

We see this every once in a while when the T3 network to College Park goes
down and it "falls over" (falls over is a good description...) to the T1.

It's interesting how they can talk about the huge data rates they carry
out of one side of their mouth while out of the other side of their mouth,
claiming that a T1 backup has some value.

This is basically the same as the transit authority in Los Angeles saying:

	Don't worry about all those freeways that are out of service.
	We have plenty of residential side streets as a backup.

Seen the pictures of traffic in LA lately?
