Hi, Daniel . . .
Glad you asked!
Consultants should state and request compliance with the Rules
of Use. If users are printing multiple copies of a file to any of our
printers, or if users are sending more than one screen dump to a
PostScript printer, it is fine to contact them to let them know they
shouldn't do this and why, and to ask them to please 'lprm' these
jobs.
The "line" is that while we ask users to observe these Rules,
we are not The Police. That is, if the user does not comply with our
request we should not take an action against him except to notify the
appropriate Athena manager (or, in for some infractions, the Campus
Police) if his infraction is significant. Jeff Schiller is currently
deciding to whom significant printer hog infractions should be
reported. For now, consultants can report them to me.

....
Earlier this evening someone sent several (15+) screendumps to plato.
I took the liberty of calling him in w20 and asking him to lprm and
resend to europa, which he did graciously (Plato was really slowed
down). Should I have done this?
Later on someone sent about 18 copies of his resume.PS (all identical)
to homer, but I didn't say anything, as I didn't know if it was my
place to do so. What should consultants do in such a situation?
Maybe we could discuss this quickly at the meeting tomorrow?
Thanks,
Dan
