Hi! This has nothing to do with computers, but I figured everyone
should know about it. The parking man handed me a handout this
morning; I'm not sure where else this bulletin has been posted.

I'm not typing in the whole thing; here are the highlights:

During the period 1/1 though 1/26, there have been 4 unarmed robberies
adjacent to MIT properties, at the following locations and times:

Vassar Street, 8:30PM
Amherst Street (right in front of E40!), 5:30PM
Wadworth Steet (the street next to E40), 6:30PM
Main and Vassar Streets, 10:00PM

The Campus Police have increased patrols in those areas and in the
Albany Garage, and are working with the local police.

The MIT Campus Police Crime Prevention suggests the following crime
prevention tips:
*BE AWARE. TRUST YOUR FEELINGS, IF YOU CHOOSE TO WALK THERE IS USUALLY
SAFETY IN NUMBERS. Be sure to travel in well lighted areas.
*Utilize the Safety Shuttle. The SAFE RIDE operates from 6pm to 3am
weeknights and until 4am on weekends. This service is for
transportation on campus and to/from recognized Boston living groups.
*If you are the victim of a robbery, DO NOT FIGHT TO HOLD ON TO YOUR
PROPERTY.
*To call the MIT Campus Police, Dial "100" from any campus phone

I don't mean to be an alarmist, I just want everyone to be safe! :-)
