This is a known bug; I reported it to Rob Ryan at CMU about a month
ago. Here's the relevant info from his response:

Even more interesting for you GWM (with some setups) and nawm users is
that ez won't get this initial event until you move, resize, etc. the
window.
As for actualygetting the fix, applying it, and getting it in the
field...
