What were you trying to do?
run EZ or Xess
What's wrong:
under EZ, I try to do just about anything and the system hangs
for a minute or two, then logs me out (apparently, the server does a
reset). The logout is abrupt and causes loss of all unsaved data.
Under Xess, I use the File_Open dialog box and the text is
garbled in the Filter, Directories, and Files boxes. The program
functions, but the fonts are f***ed up.
What should have happened:
Obviously, EZ should not cause a server reset (if that's what it
is) and Xess should have clear text.
EZ is not the only program that causes server resets. Arcinfo
(a mapping program) will kill the server.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
These machines inability to run anything more graphical than Xmh
renders them nearly useless in the current athena environment.
