Friday I watched Origen.mit.edu come up and saw 4 console messages go by
about chiroptera (the host given permission to mung my NFS filesystems)
being an unknown host.
When I mentioned this to Richard, he said that he has known for some
time that this sort of thing is an inevitable result of the Athena named
getting started so much later in the initialization process. He also
mentioned that he had proposed a solution to BUGS. I'd be willing to
audit this solution. What needs to be done to get this thing changed?
I'm already getting screwed by it, and we lost 10 days getting Medline
running because of it.
Do we set the log host a second after its initial attempt also returns
unknown host?
