System name: tardis (RISC/6000 using testers packs...)

It appears that emacs on the RISC/6000 does not delete its auto-save
files once files have actually been saved. At least in 7.4, the
auto-save files are in /tmp, rather than the current directory, so I am
now cluttering up fewer directories, but this behavior is still
annoying, especially on a private RISC/6000 whose /tmp has sometimes
filled because of these turds.

I have not observed this behavior on any other architecture.
