I experimented a bit with Derek's help, and I guess that I remembered
wrong. The owner information seems to be only set when the file is
created. So since some programs remove a file and then install a new
copy in it's place the owner gets reset. I copied some files over the
file of the same name that Derek created and he remained their owner.
That was done both on AFS and NFS.
I still don't like it very much, since that means that someone can copy
a file over mine (assuming they have the permission) and then I'll seem
to be the person who put the file there or modified it.
So it seems that there is no problem and things behave like they used
to..
