Thanks for the information.  It does explain the problem.  However, how can
I (as an average end user) tell if I've gotten the read-only volume instead
of the read-write volumen?  The attach command didn't say anything about
it.  I can see that users might become confused if they ran across this
problem.  Especially since the fs command indicates that you DO have write
access.
