Garbage for foreign characters?

I have never before heard of having foreign characters replaced with
garbage. Could you tell me the name of the file that has this problem,
and make sure that it is publicly readible so I can look at it.
You didn't perchance perform a 'Plainest' operation over your entire
document? There are foreign characters that belong to special character
sets that are made accessible by making the characters a special style.
(For example, the bullet character is actually the number 7 in the
symbola style.)
