What were you trying to do?
login from home.
What's wrong:
I have found that login seems very parity sensitive. In particular,
I can not get in if my terminal is set at anything except for "7 bits, space
parity". It will claim incorrect password each time until I switch to 7S
parity. I have tried this with three modems at 1200 and 2400 baud. I call
my DADN number (8-7364) through the 5ESS modem pool to my ISDN phone which
is connected to my DECstation 3100. This is the same setup that used to
work successfully with my previous VS2. I assume something in login is
sensitive to parity on the DECMIPS port that was not so on the VS2 port.
Once I get logged in, I can change my parity back to 7E (or anything) and
all works OK until I try to logout and back in.
What should have happened:
It shouldn't matter which parity I am at.
