Display type: PMAG-BA
What were you trying to do?
Attach (using the '-nomap' option) an AFS fileset from a machine
whose local copy of /bin/athena/aklog had been truncated to
size 0. This seemed to be the most straightforward method of
restoring a copy of the aklog binary from the system packs.
What's wrong:
I obtained the error:
/bin/athena/aklog: Exec format error
What should have happened:
I believe the attach should have succeeded. The aklog man page
says that it is "used to authenticate to a cell or directory
in _AFS_ ...". In the attach man page, the description of the
'-nomap' option says "Do not attempt to authenticate the user
to the filesystem server." In my view, if there is not supposed
to be any authentication, it should not be a fatal error if
the aklog program cannot be found or executed.
