On Fri, Nov. 1, access to the rel-eng.athena.mit.edu cell will be
spurious. This will cause problems accessing the "release" source tree
and a few project lockers. There is no scheduled time, as yet, so plan
on intermittent access throughout the day.
All "testers" machines have been re-pointed to use staff packs, so
workstations should continue to function normally, providing you logout
every so often.
Warning to all parties who had to take action was given two weeks ago;
as long as all parties have completed their tasks before Friday, system
delivery will not be affected. (As yet, there are still some things
that are not yet done and can affect a lot of users.)
As a caution to all, the rel-eng cell is not a production cell; it is a
test cell housing experimental releases and builds. Production use is
NOT wise, and is likely to break, without notice - when we expect the
cell not to be stable, we re-point testers to staff packs, so nobody
will be affected, but those who do not heed the warnings about using
Hesiod, or try to use rel-eng for production service may lose.
