System name: lubec
Type and version: CVAXSTAR 7.3M (1 update(s) to same version)
Display type: SM
What were you trying to do?
Trying to compile & link an Xlib application.
What's wrong:
When trying to link the application on my workstation (lubec)
I have get the following messages
****************************************************************************
in the Console window:
18:12 NFS server CYRUS.MIT.EDU not responding, giving up
18:12 NFS read failed for server CYRUS.MIT.EDU: TIMED OUT

in my xterm I get the following:
/mit/cdsdev/dev/mory/work/ren% make ren
/mit/gnu/vaxbin/gcc -O -I. -I -I/mit/motifdev/include -I/mit/x11/include -L/mit/motifdev/lib -L/mit/x11/lib ren_main.o rencommandline.o rengraphics.o -lMrm -lXm -lXt -lX11 -lm -o ren

Stop. /mit/cdsdev/dev/mory/work/ren% ls -l ren -rw-rw-r-- 1 mory 3744 Oct 2 18:10 ren

This has happened many times over the past couple days. It also
happened about a month ago a few times. Today I logged onto another
workstation in Building 35 on the same subnet and got the same error.
When I rlogin to a machine in building 2 (Calculus-4) I do not have
any trouble linking at all! This was true a month ago, yesterday and
today.
What should have happened:
I should be able to make the application from my workstation
without rloging onto a machine on another subnet.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
None.
