7.2R post offices... filling mbuf maps

Every user post office over the past few weeks wedged up and the dying
message was 'mbuf map full'. None of them had been up for more than 4
weeks, and in the case of po3 last night, it had barely been up for
two since its last wedge.
Questions: was this a "known" problem in 7.2R? If so, is there a fixed
version of the 7.2R kernel available? How many mbufs must be allocated
before the machine tosses its cookies (how can I detect this before it
occurs)?
