Type and version:	KN01 7.3M (1 update(s) to same version)
Display type: PMAX-MFB

What were you trying to do?

Read the man page for the program /usr/athena/bin/man, so I
could find out how to use the -M option correctly.

What's wrong:

The man page doesn't document the -M option, i.e., that a
        command of the form

    % /usr/athena/bin/man -M /afs/rel-eng/system/vax_bsd43/srvd/usr/man inetd

will produce useful output. Instead, it includes information
about two vendor versions of man, /usr/ucb/man and
/usr/bin/man, which occur later in the path set by the default
        Athena dotfiles.

What should have happened:

There should be a man page that documents the operation of the
version of man that is accessed by users employing the default
        value of $path, i.e., /usr/athena/bin/man.

Please describe any relevant documentation references:

        /afs/rel-eng/system/vax_bsd43/srvd/usr/man/man1/man.1
