discuss 1.6 doesn't recover from interrupt during read

I built discuss 1.6 from the Athena 7.3 sources on a PS/2
running AIX 1.2.1.
I typed "p new", then decided I didn't want to read all the
new transactions. I then typed "q" in more, followed by ^C
when it appeared not to be exiting. Discuss said:
Error printing transaction: Interrupted function call
When I typed "ls new", discuss responded:
discuss (list): Premature end of block Can't get meeting info
"p" printed a similar message.
I think discuss should reset the connection to the server when it
gets a read error.
