I lied. Creating an app-defualts file for emacs won't do anything
unless you set the XENVIRONMENT environment VARIABLE in the global
dotfiles, and no one's going to do that. Thought should be given to
using the X resource manager in emacs for the next release, as the code
the FSF has in there now is starting to fossilize.
