ispell/quota interaction

Question:

Help!!! Two chapters of my thesis are no longer accessible. My
backups and recent hard copies are out of date, so I really
need them!!!

they are in my home directory ("bayardo" on aphrodite) in the director
y thesis_flamage/thesis, the files
are chap7.tex and chap8.tex.

I can't seem to get at them anymore!!!!

can you please help?

Hi..  it looks to me like those files are there, it's just that they
are zero-length.....does it look that way to you, too?

When I type "more abstract.tex" it says something like

"fixed up unalighned data access for pid blah blah blah..."

(Consultant had to leave ...)

I found out what was wrong:

ispell creates backups of all files it checks..

I spell checked all chapters of my thesis, and it went over quota
without telling me.

INstead of notifying me that I was over quota, it simply mangled a bunch of
files. Luckily the ispell backups were in tact.
