It's a feature that X startup waits for your window-manager to
initialize itself before starting other applications, because that
saves time in the long run. It's a bug that it does it by just
blindly sleeping for 20 seconds! Is there truly no way to wait
until the window-manager starts up? If so we should try to get the X
people to provide such a facility.
