Strange behaviour on logging in

Sometimes (but not reproducably) when I log in, I lose my tickets
and tokens (or maybe I never had them). A subset of these times,
I also find that my .login did not run, only my .cshrc.
This is, as I said, not reliable -- it just happened, so I logged out
and back in again and I was fine. This is dialing in to gevalt, a
VS3100, running 7.2P.
My dot files are very nonstandard, but I don't see what that would
have to do with it. They are world-readable. (.cshrc and .login
in ~amgreene)
