I don't know what the appropriate address is for the X people; could
you forward this? (Unless you already know the response...)
Something I'd like to see in a future version of X11 is support for
the use of backing store in more of the Xaw widgets. In particular,
the label and list widgets could use it, but perhaps adding it to
`Core' would be the most general solution.
I sometimes use X over a slow network link, where extra load on the
server isn't a problem (it's a Sun 4 with more swap space than I can
ever use), but network traffic is. Making backing store a more
widely-supported option would help a great deal, without incurring a
great cost for those who don't need to use it.
