Couldn't log in under 7.2N immediately after logging out

My workstation has been updated to 7.2N. I logged out this morning and then
immediately tried to log in again. The following appeared in the console window:
Running standard startup
install-mh: invocation error
msgchk: [install-mh aborted]
zwgc: Connection timed out while setting location
zwgc: error while opening /mit/nschmidt/.zephyr.subs for reading:
Permission denied
zwgc: error while opening /mit/nschmidt/.zephyr.descs for reading:
Permission denied
When my xterm appeared, I did ls -al and found that almost all of my files had
Permission denied. I appeared to have no tokens and could not even do a comp to
send you mail. I have logged in on a 7.2L workstation to send this message.
I tried logging in without my default customizations and also as a terminal
window (or whatever the simplest login is called). None worked.
