Use mailmaint!
What's wrong:
I started mailmaint by typing "mailmaint" (clever, eh?)
The first menu item, "Show all mailing lists" was already highlighted,
so I just pressed the return key. it said:
This function may take a while... proceed? [y]
I typed "y". After a short wait, it came back with:
All mailing lists:

temporary_consultants 6170-students
6035 sal-club
bug-attach postmaster
MAILER-DAEMON help
--RETURN for more, ctl-c to exit--
When I type "control-c" the normal way (control and the c key at the
same time, I mean, here), it reponds with:
--RETURN for more, ctl-c to exit--
If I hit return (after hitting control c), it says "flushing query"
and moves the cursor up into the middle of the preceding text (higher
up on the screen) and sits there. At this point I guess it's waiting
for me to use the arrow keys, as it won't accept anything else at all
(like control-c or -z, it just beeps at me). If I use the arrow keys
it miraculously starts redrawing the original menu! Looks like it's
not redrawing the screen properly after the query I did. (If I
pressed the down arrow enough, it redrew the menu on top of all the
text already on my screen, and did let me exit.
What should have happened:
Control c should abort it and redraw the screen properly.
