I just watched someone do the following:
delete enough files so that he (slivan) was below quota
run dvi2ps > file.ps, creating a file which took him over quota, both
soft and hard limits.
on a dialup machine, he got a message that he was going over quota
on a generic public workstation upon which mkserv remote has been run
(vax 7.1h, m54-419-1), he got no message.
in both cases, when he hit his hard limit, the file was truncated with
no error message, and dvi2ps exited claiming that it had processed all
pages of the document.
