xcalc -analog
What's wrong:
The feature doesn't seem to be available anymore
That's correct, it isn't.
What should have happened:
It should have given me a slide rule on the screen like it always did.
No, it shouldn't have done this. As you said, it's no longer
available.
Who decided to get rid of it and why?
The X Consortium; they are our vendor for X Software that we do not
produce in-house; as such, they choose what facilities to support when
releasing new versions of X. I'm afraid we don't have manpower at
Project Athena for putting features like the analog calculator back
into programs after our vendors have decided to remove them, so I'm
afraid this is how it's going to stay.
