What were you trying to do?
Read the man(1) man page.
What's wrong:
If the standard output is a teletype, or if the flag - is
given, man pipes its output through more(1) with the option
-s to crush out useless blank lines and to stop after each
page on the screen.
If the - is given, it sends its output directly to stdout without
piping it through more.
What should have happened:
The man page should have given me correct information.
