What were you trying to do?
Use 'C' in notes to forward a response from changes to
changes.70, as a response to another note in changes.70.
What's wrong:
I accidentally told it to append the response teo a
nonexistent note in changes.70 (the number I gave was higher
than the highest note); it accepted the number without
question, and the following happened after I edited:
Director message? n (working)notes: No such file or directory
getnrec: read <---- abort (2)

What should have happened:
It should have recognized the out-of-bounds error when I
specified the note number to which I wanted it to add the
message, and protested.
